About the artist

b. 1983 Based in Glasgow Ariane Jackson Marini holds a BFA from the Glasgow School of Art an MA in Sound for Moving Image, also from the Glasgow School of Art.

Her work has been exhibited in Scotland mainland, the Hebrides and France. Ariane Jackson Marini works predominantly in painting, with an interest in colour, materiality and abstraction. With painting she attempts to pin down the fleeting interactions of meaning between materials, memory, references and identity.

“The paintings start with a sensory event in mind - a memory, an experience of light and colour and the associated feelings. However, as the painting unfolds, the materials take on their own desires and parameters, and there is a playfulness that kicks in.
