About the Artist

b. 1981 Germany based in Manchester. Craig Coulthard completed his MA of Fine Art from Edinburgh College of Art in 2006 and his BA at Edinburgh College of Art in 2002.

His practice is characterised by questioning tradition and assessing the evolution of what is deemed to be ‘traditional’ within different areas of society.

Craig Coulthard works in a range of materials, from textiles, fabric and ceramics, to performance, music, sculpture and painting. He is Co-founder of The Embassy Gallery in Edinburgh and in 2012 represented Scotland as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad with his multi-faceted artwork "Forest Pitch".
